Multi-factor authentication (MFA) for students provides an extra layer of information security and helps to protect students from potential privacy and security breaches. The Microsoft Authenticator mobile app is the preferred method to utilize MFA. This app can be downloaded on personal smartphones. Other recommended authentication options include the SafeID hardware token available for purchase at the BCIT bookstore, and software keys that can be used through other devices, like a laptop.
Some major systems that MFA is currently applied to are:
- Microsoft365 Office (web and desktop client)
- OneDrive (web and desktop client)
- Workspace
- AppsAnywhere
- and more…
