  • CESA 5420 – Building System Integration and Analytics
School of Construction & the Environment
    Centre for Energy Systems Applications
    Building Controls & Energy Management

    • This course presents an overview of building automation systems, communication protocols, system integration and data analytics as it relates to the role of energy management professionals. … The course will cover the Internet of Things (IoT) as well as practical use cases in order to understand how this might affect the future of DDC controls.
  • ELEX 4640 – Internet of Things
    School of Energy
    Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology

    • This course introduces the Internet of Things (IoT) fundamentals including the use cases, network architecture, communication technologies, and application protocols. The IoT reference model is used to design an IoT network from both core functional, and data management perspectives. The attributes of the constrained networks and various IoT communication technologies are investigated to determine the optimal access technology for different use cases. Electrical circuits using microcontroller boards and IoT connectivity modules are developed to transmit the collected data from the smart objects to the cloud services through IoT application protocols.
