Vancouver Institute of Media Arts (VanArts) and the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) have partnered to create the VanArts-BCIT Pathway: a cross-institutional agreement enabling VanArts graduates entry into BCIT’s School of Business + Media. If you complete the entire pathway you will have the opportunity to earn either a BCIT Advanced Diploma in Business Management and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Degree, or a BCIT Advanced Diploma in Technical Arts – two pathways that will open up more creative career opportunities and offer sooner career advancement.

Who qualifies for the VanArts-BCIT pathway?

VanArts alumni who have graduated from the programs listed below within the last 5 years.

  • Game Art & Design
  • Professional Photography
  • Visual Effects for Film & TV
  • Web Development & Interactive Design

Year 1: VanArts program

VanArts is one of the world’s top ranked post-secondary schools for visual, media and performing arts. Your study experience includes a world-class faculty of industry professionals, specialized curriculum, small class sizes, and an international network of students, all located in Vancouver, a leading hub for media & tech industries. It all starts by completing the one-year professional diploma program of your choice.

Year 2: BCIT

Advanced Diploma in Business Management

Upon completion of one of the qualifying VanArts diploma programs, you are ready to fortify your business skills in BCIT’s Business Management Advanced Diploma.

OR

Advanced Diploma in Technical Arts

If you are looking to broaden your knowledge base and proficiency in 3D graphics, game design, or programming, enroll in BCIT’s Technical Arts Advanced Diploma program.

Entrance requirements

VanArts program graduates can enter into the Advanced Diploma contingent on:

  • A minimum of 65% (C+) overall in their program
  • Category 2 English requirement (English Studies 12 67%) or equivalent

Program start dates

Business Management Advanced Diploma

  • Full-time: September and January.
  • Part-time: January, April, and September.

Technical Arts Advanced Diploma

  • Full-time: September

Year 3: BCIT

Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (optional – requires completion of the Advanced Diploma in Business Management to qualify)

After completing BCIT’s Business Management Advanced Diploma you have the option to enroll in BCIT’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). This degree program focuses on critical and strategic thinking and provides students with a chance to be more prepared for diverse career opportunities and expedited advancement by honing the skills developed in your diploma programs at BCIT and VanArts.

Enter the workforce

After completing a VanArts diploma program, BCIT’s Business Management Advanced Diploma, or BCIT’s Technical Arts Advanced Diploma, you’ll be ready to pursue a variety of creative careers.
