Since 1989, Ron Jacklin has prepared thousands of different types of multimedia presentations. His start was with Vision Presentations, where he worked with multi-image producers. Ron’s department (focused on presentation media) grew to be one of the largest facilities in western Canada. In 1999 Ron was selected to head up the group called “Creative Services” at MCSi. MCSi was the world’s largest ‘Media Consultant/Systems Integrator’ with over 1 Billion US in sales. His group developed media for companies throughout North America including presentations for many varied organizations like Sony, NEC, the University of Notre Dame, Lipton Soup, Canada Life, Seattle Public Schools, and many more. His department developed media for MCSi’s North American Sales and Technical Summit and Convergence Exo where 1200 MCSi staff attended. In 2002 – AV Video Multimedia Producer Magazine named Ron as one of the top 100 producers in North America.
Ron formed the Media FX Group (MFXG) in 2003 to focus on internet development and multimedia productions of his own. The Media FX Group has been hired to develop a variety of multimedia productions for RBC, Walmart, Boston Pizza, the Beijing & Vancouver Olympics, the Conservative Party of Canada on election nights, Clarica Insurance in Cancun, Mexico, Pentax Medical in Toronto, Vancouver and Banff, A&W Restaurants in Florida, Quebec City, Palm Springs, and Hawaii, the Vancouver Real Estate Board Awards, and Canada Day at the Canada Place and more. The BC Technology Industries Association hired the Media FX Group to develop their media for their award nights for over 10 years. The BC Ministry of Education used the Media FX Group to launch new curriculum initiatives to BC schools, eLearning for teachers who deal with Autism, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and other disabilities. The Royal Canadian Legion used the Media FX Group for their website development and gala events. Many corporate and eCommerce websites have been developed by Ron and his team including sites for car dealerships, hotels, lawyers, conferences, education, training, shopping and more. On the digital signage front, the Media FX Group made a big “splash” with BC Ferries Vacations. Ron’s team produced a 16 LCD video wall for the foyer of the downtown sales center. Flying Wedge Pizza used a 4-screen LCD video wall from the Media FX Group. Ron also has sat on the board of directors for a Real Estate Social Network platform (RESAAS), the BC Organizational Development Network (BCODN), and Meeting Professionals International (MPI) BC Chapter.
When not managing projects and people at the Media FX group, Ron is helping to create the next wave of multimedia talent in BC as an instructor in the New Media Design program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). Ron teaches (part-time) Information Architecture, Interface Design, and User Experience (UX/UI Strategy), and was also a former Department Head of the BCIT Digital Arts Program and Practicum Coordinator. Ron has also taught Motion 1 and Motion 2 at the Vancouver Film School (VFS).
