Failure to check-in/out
The following is some guidance regarding the failure of an employee to check-in/out. If an employee misses a check-in then the supervisor would be directed to try to contact the employee, and if the employee can’t be contacted within a short time frame, e.g. 15 minutes, then security will be notified. If security can’t locate the employee within a reasonable time frame, e.g. 30 minutes, then the supervisor will be notified who may then follow up with the employees personal phone or family, or if the employees is still not located, the police may be contacted. SSEM will be notified of the outcome, by contacting BCIT_Safety_and_Security@bcit.ca.
Your safety is important for us. If you work or studies require you to come to campus in person, please practice social distancing of two metres as advised by the Provincial Health Officer. Avoid overcrowding in elevators or other enclosed spaces. Wash or sanitize your hands after touching communal surfaces. All staff, faculty, students, and visitors are urged to stay home if they are ill. Check BCIT COVID-19 Institute response for details.
COVID-19 Note: for cleaning purposes after a space has been used
Faculty and students who are in teaching and learning spaces (theatres, classrooms, labs, shops, student meeting rooms) are requested to generate a Facilities Work Request to Cleaning after the space has been vacated. Your Work Request will activate BCIT’s Custodial Contractor to sanitize and disinfect surfaces before the next occupancy. Faculty submit your request to on-line Staff Requests (Faculty submits for their students).
