How to get first aid treatment

All campuses have fully stocked first aid rooms and Intermediate first aid kits, except for the Burnaby Campus, which has an Advanced first aid kit. During regular hours, all campuses have , Intermediate Occupational First Aid Attendants, including when security guards act as first aid attendants, except for the Burnaby Campus which has Advanced Occupational First Aid Attendants,. BCIT security guards are trained as Basic Occupational First Aid Attendants, and have access to a Basic first aid kit.

If you are injured/ill/exposed:

    1. Call 911 for severe injuries/illnesses/exposures.
      • After calling 911, contact Security at 604.451.6856 so that they can provide immediate assistance and direct emergency services when they arrive.
    2. Call First Aid at 604.432.8872 to advise that you require assistance.  Proceed to the First Aid location or request that First Aid attend your location.
      • If proceeding to First Aid, ensure the injured person is accompanied.
    3. Notify your supervisor/instructor.
    4. Report your incident. If you are an employee, by completing an online incident report in IRIS.  If you are a student, complete the student injury report form.

Report all injuries, even minor injuries, to your Supervisor/Instructor and First Aid.  The SafetyWise App can also be used to call Security and First Aid.
