As BCIT gradually re-opens its campuses, the Occupational Health and Safety Division is working to provide timely advice that is coordinated to the efforts of the BC Ministry of Health and WorkSafeBC reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. This section provides tools and information on policies, procedures and expectations BCIT has implemented to reduce COVID-19 transmission risk.

Expectations for visitors

Before visiting:

  • Complete daily self-screening by using the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool and confirm with your BCIT Contact no symptoms of COVID-19 prior to attending BCIT
  • Receive a copy of the Safety Plan and/or Risk Assessment for your visit from your BCIT Contact and review it

While visiting:

  • Follow the safety measurements outlined in the Safety Plan and/or Risk Assessment posted in the area you are visiting, as applicable
  • Stay 2 metres apart from others
  • Wear a face mask at all times while indoors
  • Follow posted safety signage
  • Wash or sanitize hands frequently
  • Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands
  • Cough or sneeze into the bend of your elbow
  • If you become ill, notify your BCIT Contact immediately

Information for BCIT contact

A BCIT Contact is a person who organizes or oversees the visiting activity at BCIT. Here are resources available to BCIT Contacts to help organize the visit safely:

  1. Maintain records of visitor attendance and confirm visitors have completed their daily self-screening prior to attending campus
  2. Communicate BCIT’s expectations for visitors regarding COVID-19 safety. Here is a digital Handout which can be downloaded and sent to the visitors prior to attending campus
  3. Check if an approved Safety Plan and/or Risk Assessment has been completed within the scope (location and group size) of the planned visit and follow the outlined safety protocols
  4. Follow Province-wide restrictions
