An update from President Kathy Kinloch

In this week’s video, BCIT President Kathy Kinloch talks about upcoming academic and safety updates, and ensuring a safe return to campus for Joinery students, faculty, and staff to allow students in this program to complete their credentials. Glen Magel, Director, Safety, Security, and Emergency Management also provides an overview and update on ongoing safety measures at BCIT.

Emergency Operations Centre

BCIT has activated our Emergency Operations Centre, consisting of a pan-institutional committee of staff and faculty from across the Institute. This committee includes senior representatives from every department at BCIT and reviews updates, contingency planning, and our day-to-day response to this situation.

Cleaning and social distancing

BCIT has increased the frequency of our cleaning services across all our campuses, including high-frequency areas such as classrooms and office areas. Some courses require on-campus learning in unique labs and shops. In these classes, we will practice social distancing of 2 metres as advised by the Provincial Health Officer and we will ensure increased frequency of cleaning services in these areas.

COVID-19 Emergency Student Response Fund

BCIT has established a student emergency response fund to provide one-time funding in support of current, registered students impacted by this crisis. View details on how to donate to the fund, or how to apply for support.
