Tuition increases

Each year BC post-secondary institutions may raise tuition by 2 per cent. In April each year, BCIT posts the new rates that take effect on August 1. If you pay your tuition prior to April using the old rates, you are required to pay the difference within 10 business days from the start of your program. Please see the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills’ Tuition Limit Policy for more information.

Commitment fee

Once offered admission, a newly admitted student must pay a commitment fee to confirm acceptance. Commitment fee amounts may vary by program of study and the applicant’s residency status and is applied to tuition upon registration.

The commitment fee is forfeited and retained by BCIT under the following circumstances:

  • the offer is declined by the applicant after payment is made, or
  • the applicant does not register for any course in their start term

The commitment fee may be deferred under limited circumstances outlined in BCIT Policy 5003 – PR1 when an admission deferral is approved.

Domestic students

$200 commitment fee is required to confirm acceptance in full-time trades programs except for Airline and Flight Operations Commercial Pilot program ($1,000). All other programs require a $500 commitment fee.

International students

$6,000 commitment fee is required to confirm acceptance in all full-time programs.
