High School Applicants

To become a student at BCIT, apply directly to the program of your choice following these basic steps:

Choose a program from our program catalogue
Meet the entrance requirements on your selected program’s Entrance Requirements page
Apply online and submit your supporting transcripts as PDF files

However, your options for applying with your high school transcript depends on where you currently are in your studies, and the province or country from which you are applying:

Application options based on high school location

Option 1: Grade 12 registration

If you are registered for a required Grade 12 course and are less than half way through, apply by submitting your final Grade 11 report card* (or official transcript) and your confirmed Grade 12 timetable, available after the start of your school year.

*Note: Your final grade for the Grade 11 prerequisite course must meet the percentage grade specified in your program’s entrance requirements.

Admissions may request that you submit your final grades.

Option 2: midterm grades

If you are at least half way through the required Grade 11 or 12 course, apply by submitting your midterm grade* for the required course.

*Note: Your midterm grade must meet the percentage grade specified in your program’s entrance requirements.

Option 3: final grades

If you have completed the required Grade 11 or 12 course, apply by submitting your final report card or official transcript.

Option 2: final grades

If you have completed the required Grade 11 or 12 course, apply with your final grade for the required course.

Submit an official transcript that includes:

Name of school and/or examination board
Address and country of school and/or examination board
Name of high school graduation credential
Grade level of each course (e.g. Grade 11, Grade 12, Senior Year 2, Senior Year 3)
Grading scale and minimum passing grade

If you apply with midterm grades or final Grade 11 grades with proof of registration in Grade 12, you may be required to show proof of your final grades. Admissions will contact you if you are selected for a grade audit.

Missing one or more requirements?

If BCIT requires a course that you didn’t take in high school or your final grade in the required course does not meet the requirement, you can:

Register for an upgrading course at BCIT or your local school board
Take an assessment or test
Explore other options for meeting the English requirement

Please note: Grade 12 provincial exams are not required.

You may apply to a BCIT program using your midterm grades unless otherwise indicated on the Entrance Requirements page.
