BCIT’s refunds and withdrawals policy

You may withdraw from your course or program and be eligible to receive a tuition refund if you voluntarily withdraw by the refund deadline. Different deadlines, fees, and rules apply depending on your course or program type. See below for details on the withdrawal and refund processes as they relate to:

Full-time programs

Flexible Learning courses

Withdrawal request response time

Due to high volume, please allow 7 to 10 business days for Student Information and Enrolment Services to process your course withdrawal request. Please do not send multiple emails for the same withdrawal request.

Apprenticeship programs

International students

Regular refund and withdrawal processes apply to international students enrolled in part-time or full-time studies. However, processing fees may differ for international students.

If your status in Canada has changed or your study permit has been denied, BCIT has specific processes available for International students.

When to expect your refund

Refunds are issued by cheque made payable to the student. The exception to this is refunds issued where a third party was invoiced. In those instances, the refund will be made payable to the third party.

Refunds take approximately six weeks to process, plus mailing time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

To assist in a timely processing of your refunds, please ensure your mailing address is up to date. For any cheque not received due to outdated or inaccurate address, it may take up to eight weeks for the new cheque to be issued and mailed.

To update your mailing address:

  • Log in to your myBCIT account
  • Select Student Self Service
  • Select Student Personal Information
  • Select Update Your Personal Information
  • Select Contact Information
