Jack Davidson, Chair

Jack Davidson retired as President and COO in January 2017 from the BC Road Builders and Heavy Construction Association where since 1999, he was responsible for strategic planning, government relations, educational programs and conferences, media and public relations, and WorkSafeBC liaison for the association’s over 250 member firms. He has successfully navigated the membership through steady growth and change in British Columbia, and is a seasoned veteran in building relationships with various stakeholders.

Jack is an accomplished association leader who has been active and involved in BC's not-for-profit sector for over 25 years. After owning and operating various businesses, Jack became involved in association management in 1990, when he became President and CEO of the BC Shake and Shingle Association and later the Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau. During this time, Jack earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE), of which he is an active member and past president and director.

Jack has been successful in working closely with the association's board of directors and members in identifying road building and heavy construction industry issues. He has also been excellent at partnering with relevant stakeholders in implementing effective solutions that benefit our industries as a whole.

Jack assisted in the development of a safety training organization for the construction industry (i.e. the BC Construction Safety Alliance), and has long been a supporter of training and education. He spearheaded the development of several training programs, which have promoted and developed job opportunities and safety in the road building and heavy construction industries.

Jack is also responsible for re-focusing the Association’s annual golf tournament into a charity tournament that benefits the Association’s Scholarship Fund (awarding up to two scholarships annually) and BC Children's Hospital (donating over $400,000!).

Jack has served as director on numerous boards, including the Mission Board of School Trustees, the Teamsters Local 213 Joint Training School, Transportation Career Development Association, Industry Training Authority, and the University College of the Fraser Valley Career Technical Centre as chair. He is also a past president of the Mission Rotary Club and continues to serve on several committees. He received his Diploma of Technology in Technical Management from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1969.

Being an active member of the Canadian Construction Association and the Western Canada Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association, he was recognized with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his outstanding contributions to community and to Canada in 2013. Jack was awarded with an honourary membership with the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of British Columbia for his tireless support of their sector.

Jack was born, raised and still lives in Mission with his lovely wife, Marilyn and they have two sons and two young granddaughters.
