Emergencies
If you suspect an overdose, call 9-1-1 right away, and then call Campus Security at 604.451.6856. The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act protects those responding to an emergency, even if you have substances on you.
BCIT is committed to informing students, faculty, and staff about substance use health, harm reduction, responding to overdose and recovery options.
Fentanyl – a synthetic opioid pain reliever – can be found in many unregulated drugs. Even a small amount can cause a fatal overdose, even for first-time user or less regular users. Fentanyl is not only found in opioids but has also been detected in stimulants and depressants. Unregulated drugs can also be mixed with benzodiazepines, which can further increase the risk of accidental drug poisoning.
Harm Reduction can help reduce possible harms associated with substance use.
