Teaching & Learning Unit

Welcome to the Teaching & Learning Unit (TLU). The TLU offers integrated services in program, curriculum, and course development; instructional skills; educational technology; and workplace education. We support BCIT schools in delivering high-quality education that meets the needs of students and industry.

Established in 2025, the TLU brings together the former Learning and Teaching Centre (LTC), Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (APQA), and Agile and Work-Integrated Learning (WIL). This integration strengthens our longstanding commitment to creating impactful learning experiences aligned with BCIT’s unique educational model and expands our capacity to transform teaching and learning across the Institute.

Instructional Development Consultants (IDCs)

IDCs help instructors and schools with teaching, instructional design, program development, technology implementation, and research in educational standards and innovations.

Academic Quality (AQ)

AQ advises and guides program areas on key processes related to academic quality, including program development, review, change, and accreditation.

Agile & Work-Integrated Learning (WIL)

Agile Learning helps industry meet workforce needs and helps learners acquire the skills and knowledge they need in the workplace through co-ops, clinical placements, experience-based placement, and flexible learning operations.

Learning Technologies & Services (LTS)

LTS provides services integral to applied and online education, including management of the Learning Hub, research on new technologies, and the creation of visual and interactive learning aids.

Scholarly Activity

Scholarly Activity creates a community of scholarship at BCIT that encourages growth in our disciplines, integration of knowledge and practice, and the application of that knowledge to real-world problems.
