New program development is a collaborative venture at BCIT with many stakeholder departments involved. Driven by BCIT schools, the whole process is an integration of curriculum development activities and an approval process guided by BCIT Policy 5401 [PDF] and Procedure [PDF]. A working group is typically composed of a school program champion, assigned subject matter experts (SMEs), and an instructional development consultant (IDC).
The TLU provides services such as:
- Curriculum development consultation
- Assistance in needs assessment
- Assistance in developing a proposal
- Assistance during the BCIT approval process
Contact your IDC school liaison for our services and check the available program development resources, including various templates.
Here is how curriculum development integrates with the approval process when developing a BCIT diploma. Details about the approving process for different credential types are included in Policy 5401 and procedure.
