The Learning and Teaching Innovation Grant provides faculty, staff, and other service departments with funds and support for applied initiatives aimed at enhancing the student experience through alignment to the pillars of the Learning and Teaching Framework (LTF). Projects should promote the LTF and reflect the spirit of a polytechnic learning-by-doing methodology. Before you apply for this grant, please read the Learning and Teaching Innovation Grant Information Sheet [PDF].
Application process
Note: Old application forms (digitally completed and emailed to develop@bcit.ca) are no longer being accepted as of March, 2026.
- Check the Application Update notice on this page to confirm that applications are being accepted.
- Use the online LTI grant application form. (The application will be available during the grant’s application dates posted for each term.)
- Note that the application form requires you to comply with open education access guidelines and BCIT’s privacy policy.
- Also note that this application requires consultation with the privacy office. Please allow enough time for consultation before the application deadline.
- Grant applications will be evaluated by a committee according to the Learning and Teaching Innovation Grant Rubric [PDF].
- Grant payments will be made in one lump sum at the completion of your project through either a yellow contract or a departmental cross-charge. Total grant amount requested cannot exceed $10,000 per application.
- For payment approval, send a summary of your completed project to develop@bcit.ca using the Final Report Guidelines [DOCX]. LTI grants are awarded within a single fiscal year. Final reports must be submitted by March 15 so that all payments are complete by March 31.

Application Update
Spring 2026 LTI grants are now closed. Applications are no longer being accepted. This year, we will be doing a second call for LTI grant applications in the fall term 2026. Check back here for exact dates and more information closer to that time.
LTI grants are offered every spring, and sometimes in fall, depending on the number of successful applicants in the previous round. Note that LTI grant projects have a completion deadline of March of the following year, regardless of whether you receive the grant in spring or fall.
We’re using a new online LTI application form. Apply for a LTI grant online within the application dates posted for each term. Old application forms (filled in digitally and emailed to develop@bcit.ca) will no longer be accepted. (The link to the online application form will be live closer to the opening date for applications.)
