Policy update

Changes to Policy 2300 -Tuition, Fees, and Refunds will take effect in Fall 2026. Information on this page is subject to change.

BCIT’s refunds and withdrawals policy

You may withdraw from your course or program and be eligible to receive a tuition refund if you voluntarily withdraw by the refund deadline. Different deadlines, fees, and rules apply depending on your course or program type. See below for details on the withdrawal and refund processes as they relate to:

Full-time programs

Flexible Learning courses

Note: Due to high volume, please allow 7 to 10 business days for Student Information and Enrolment Services to process your course withdrawal request. Please do not send multiple emails for the same withdrawal request.

Apprenticeship programs

International students

Note: International students in Canada on a study permit should be aware that withdrawing from a program or courses may have immigration implications. If unsure, students are encouraged to consult with the International Student Centre before withdrawing.

Regular refund and withdrawal processes apply to international students enrolled in part-time or full-time studies. However, processing fees may differ for international students.

If your status in Canada has changed or your study permit has been denied, BCIT has specific processes available for International students.

How to get a refund

If you are eligible for a tuition refund, you must fill out the refund request form. Your refund request will be assessed in accordance with BCIT refund and withdrawal policies and issued accordingly. For your request to be eligible for a refund, you must submit your request within two calendar years of the start date of the course(s).
