You can apply to the co-op program stream, which is a competitive process. Information on the application process to co-op will be provided during the first term of your program.

Chemical and Environmental Engineering Technology Co-op students develop a strong foundation in engineering technology through an industry-driven curriculum that combines classroom learning with laboratory and applied project experience. Students are well prepared to contribute technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a variety of industrial, environmental, and research settings.

In between Year 1 and 2  of this program, students have the option to complete a 12-week co-op work term from June-August.

What can BCIT Students Do?

At the time of their co-op, students are prepared with technical training in:

  • Basic chemical lab techniques
  • General and organic chemistry
  • Chemical engineering fundamentals
  • Environmental sampling & analysis
  • Basics of air and water pollution and treatment
  • Materials science and technology fundamentals
  • Calculus and physics
