The School of Computing and Academic Studies (SoCAS) is a locus of research, which benefits from the cross-fertilization of ideas across the many disciplines within the school and with other schools at BCIT.
As SoCAS is engaged in teaching the foundation courses for most of BCIT’s technology programs, there is a great deal of inter-disciplinary and collaborative investigation and work being done in many fields – computer science, biomedical engineering, mining, robotics, health sciences, civil and structural engineering, to name a few.
Some of the research is also being done in conjunction with other educational institutions, corporations and research organizations. Students have the opportunity to be involved in research projects, exploring unique areas and intersections in science, technology, and teaching, and contributing to their advance.
