Students enrolled in an eligible full-time program at BCIT with a minimum 60% courseload (40% for students with approved disability status) may apply for full-time funding through StudentAid BC.

How to apply

StudentAid BC applications are accepted online through StudentAid BC’s online application system. When you apply for funding, please make sure to select the term and study dates that match your registration. You can contact our office if you need help filling in your application.

Students in full-time programs at BCIT may also be eligible for Awards, Scholarships, and Bursaries.

When to Apply

You may apply for funding as soon as your term dates are available in the drop-down menu on the full-time StudentAid BC application, ideally at least 4 weeks before your tuition due date. Find more information about funding for full-time students.

StudentAid BC applications with BCIT are accepted on a term-by-term basis. This means you will need to submit a new application for each term you would like to request funding. You are encouraged to apply early each term. The deadline to submit your completed application is 6 weeks before the end of each term.

After you Apply

After you submit your application, make sure to follow all instructions from StudentAid BC, as additional forms or documents may be required depending on your application details. If steps are missed, your application may not be processed.

Once you submit your complete application, StudentAid BC will assess your eligibility and determine how much funding you are eligible to receive. You can view your application status and action items through your StudentAid BC account. Once your application is processed, make sure you review your assessment from Student Aid BC to learn more about your recognized costs, resources, approved funding amounts, and funding types.

If you are approved for funding, you will need to accept your assessment and complete your Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA) if it is requested. If you do not accept your assessment or have a missing MSFAA, confirmation of enrolment will not be requested and funds will not be released.

Confirmation of enrolment requests are processed approximately 1-2 weeks before your term starts. You do not need to request that we confirm your enrolment. If the study period details on your application do not match your enrolment, BCIT Financial Aid & Awards will contact you with information about next steps.

Approved funds are released after the confirmation of enrolment- typically within the first 1-2 weeks of the term. If your fees are due before you are expecting to receive your funds, you may request a Tuition Fee Deferral. All approved funds will be sent directly to you. If you have fees owing to BCIT, it is your responsibility to make your fee payment to BCIT.
