Awards, Scholarships & Bursaries

BCIT awards, scholarships and bursaries are available to full-time students. Please review each category carefully for eligibility requirements, application procedures, and deadlines.

The following full-time course load criteria apply to all BCIT awards, scholarships, and bursaries unless specified otherwise:

To be eligible for entrance awards, bursaries, or achievement awards, a student must be enrolled in a minimum 60% course load; 40% for students with approved permanent disability status; or a minimum of 6 credits per term for master’s degrees.
Academic scholarships and graduation awards are based on a 100% course load.

This table outlines BCIT’s “minimum full-time course load” (60%) requirements:

*Actual weeks means the number of calendar weeks from the first class to the final exam.

Entrance Awards

Recognize academic achievement and other factors such as community involvement and leadership qualities of students entering eligible full-time programs.

BC Graduate Scholarships

Merit based scholarships for incoming graduate students in eligible full-time master’s programs

Academic Scholarships & Awards

Recognize full-time student academic performance. These are awarded automatically; applications are not required.

Need based

Entrance Bursary

Awarded to Grade 12 students from select Vancouver high schools who demonstrate financial need to start their full-time post-secondary education.

BCIT Bursaries

Non-repayable awards granted to full-time students who demonstrate financial need and are progressing satisfactorily in their program.

BCIT Student Housing Bursary

Helps students who demonstrate that the cost of BCIT Student Housing creates a barrier to attending BCIT.

Cost of Living Grant for International Students

This grant assists international students facing financial challenges due to the high cost of living in the Lower Mainland.

External Awards

Scholarships, bursaries, or other financial supports offered by organizations and agencies outside of BCIT. For external awards, students must apply directly to the organization providing the funding. Please explore these opportunities to broaden your funding options.
