Adult Upgrading Grant (AUG)

You may be eligible for the Adult Upgrading Grant if you are:

• An adult
• A Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or a Protected Person
• Living in British Columbia
• In financial need, with a family income below the specified threshold
• Enrolled in eligible skills upgrading, education and training course(s) (see “Eligible Courses” below)

The following assessments are not eligible for AUG funding:

• English Competency Assessment
• English Speaking and Listening Assessment

Follow these steps:

1. Register in your upgrading classes before you submit your application. If you are unable to pay student fees when you register, please submit a Tuition Fee Deferral request with your application.
2. To apply for the Adult Upgrading Grant (AUG), download the application on the StudentAid BC website. You will need a PDF reader (eg. Adobe Reader) to fill out this form.
3. Complete sections 1-6 of the application. Incomplete applications cannot be processed.
4. Email your completed application and supporting documents (see below) to augfinaid@bcit.ca.

You will be required to submit supporting documentation with your application, including:

• 2025 income tax Notice of Assessment(s) for all income listed in Section 2.
  • If you did not file a tax return, you must attach documentation to support the income listed on the application (T4, T4A, etc.), and a statement to explain why you did not file taxes in 2025.
• Immigration Document (for non-citizens)
  • Permanent Residents must attach a copy of the front and back of PR card or IMM1000.
    • If your document does not show your immigration category, please include a copy of your landing paper also.
  • Protected Persons must attach their letter of decision and proof of a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) for the entire study period.
• Technology Costs
  • If claiming technology costs under question 28, attach your receipts if the item has already been purchased.

Applications for the 2026/2027 year must be submitted before the last day of class (or March 15th, 2027 – whichever occurs first). Late applications cannot be accepted.
