If you are taking an eligible full-time program at BCIT and enrolled in at least a 60% courseload (40% for students with approved disability status), you may apply for full-time funding through StudentAid BC. The minimum study period length for full-time funding is 12 weeks.
How to apply
To apply for StudentAid BC funding, create your account on StudentAid BC website and complete your application online.
Students in full-time programs at BCIT may also be eligible for Awards, Scholarships, and Bursaries.
When to Apply
Full-time students may apply for funding as soon as their term dates are available in the drop-down menu within the full-time StudentAid BC application.
StudentAid BC applications with BCIT are completed on a term-by-term basis. This means you will need to submit a new application for each term you would like to request funding. You are encouraged to apply for funding early each term, ideally at least 4 weeks before your tuition due date. The deadline to submit your completed application is 6 weeks before the end of each term.
After you Apply
After you submit your application, make sure to follow all instructions from StudentAid BC, as additional forms or documents may be required depending on your application details. If steps are missed, your application may not be processed.
Once your complete application is submitted, StudentAid BC will assess your eligibility and send you a Notification of Assessment letter which will outline the types and amounts of funding you are approved for. Review this letter carefully and follow any instructions provided.
Confirmation of enrolment requests are processed approximately 1-2 weeks before your term starts. You do not need to request that we confirm your enrolment. If the study period details on your application do not match your enrolment, BCIT Financial Aid & Awards will contact you with more information about next steps.
Approved funds are released after the confirmation of enrolment- typically within the first 1-2 weeks of the term.
