Entrance Bursaries

To be eligible for the Dr. She and Dr. Chan Entrance Bursaries:

• You must have applied for admission to BCIT and been assigned a BCIT ID.  You do not need to be accepted into your program yet.
• You must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
• You must commence full-time studies (60% or more of a 100% course load) between May 1, 2026 and April 30, 2027.
• You must remain registered as a full-time student during the academic periods for which this bursary is given.
• You must maintain satisfactory academic standing during the academic period for which this bursary is given.
• If you are under disciplinary review or placed on a student performance contract, you may be restricted from receiving an entrance bursary disbursement.

• Must be a Grade 12 high school student who is graduating in the current year from Britannia Secondary, Templeton Secondary School, or Vancouver Technical Secondary School, all located in East Vancouver.
• Must need financial assistance to be able to start their post-secondary education, as demonstrated by the financial information provided on the application.
• Must have applied for admission to an eligible BCIT Trades Program or a BCIT Diploma Program in Engineering, Computing or Health Sciences as a full-time student as determined by BCIT (please click here to see the list of eligible programs).
• Must have a reference letter in support of the application from faculty or staff from your High School.

DEADLINE
Your entrance award application must be received at the Student Financial Aid and Awards office by 4:00 p.m. on April 15, 2026.

VALUE

•  The number of recipients will vary from year to year depending on the number of successful applications received, the programs applied for, and the funds available
•  The bursary will cover the tuition and fees, and will be renewed each term, for the length of the program, for a maximum of 24 months from the program start date
•  Bursary disbursements will be made in September and January of each year, or at the beginning of new term/level

Step 1: Review the eligibility criteria
You must meet all of the criteria listed in the General and Specific Eligibility Criteria section.

Step 2: Prepare your application
Complete the following application form:

Step 3: Prepare your transcript
You must include an official high school transcript showing all final grade 11 marks and interim marks for grade 12 courses.
Note: Report cards are NOT accepted.

Step 4: Obtain your confidential reference letter
You must include a confidential reference letter from faculty or staff from your High School

Step 5: Submit your application form and supporting documentation
Submit your completed application package (application form and all supporting documents) by April 15, 2026 by email to: sawards@bcit.ca

• Applicants are responsible for ensuring all documents are received by the BCIT Student Financial Aid and Awards office by the applicable deadline date. Incomplete or late BCIT entrance bursary applications will not be considered.
• All BCIT entrance bursary applicants are notified of decisions in writing.
• Entrance bursaries are tenable only at BCIT and are not transferable.
• Entrance bursaries are not deferrable and must be accepted in the year in which they are awarded.
• Applicants must remain in the program that their award was given for.
• Failure to adhere to all entrance bursary criteria will result in the bursary being revoked. At that time, you will have 30 days to repay the amount of the bursary.
