Cost of Living Grant for International Students

As part of BCIT’s commitment to supporting international students, Student Financial Aid & Awards office is pleased to offer a $500 Cost of Living Grant to assist international students facing financial challenges due to the high cost of living in the Lower Mainland. This grant is intended to promote the well-being and stability of BCIT’s international student community.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for this grant, students must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be an international student
- Reside in Canada while undertaking the 2026 Winter term studies
- Be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits in any BCIT program in Winter 2026
- Not have received this grant in the Fall 2025 term
Application Process
Submit your application for the Cost of Living Grant by completing the following:
- An application form through your myBCIT account;
- A personal statement explaining your need for the grant (included in the application form)
How to Apply
The application form is available on your myBCIT account. Follow these steps:

- Go to myBCIT , and log in to your account.
- Click Online Self-Service.
- Select “Student Financial Aid & Awards” from the menu.
- Log in again with your A# Student ID.
- Select the “Web Application” icon.
- Select the correct “application term” and “International Cost of Living Grant” to begin.
Note: Please read the instructions carefully and ensure all required fields are filled out. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
How to See Your Application Results
Application results will be visible through the “Web Application” section in myBCIT. If the status says “Approved”, you will receive a $500 grant. This grant can be issued either via Direct Deposit (EFT) or by cheque. Students may register for Direct Deposit (EFT) through BCIT Financial Services. If you do not register for EFT, payment will be issued by cheque and mailed within 4 weeks of application approval. Please ensure your mailing address is up to date in your myBCIT account.
