StudentAid BC Strike Update
StudentAid BC Strike Update
Due to an ongoing labour dispute, the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills is currently experiencing a disruption in service. As a result:
- Access to the StudentAid BC online application system is temporarily unavailable.
- Some StudentAid BC payments may be delayed until regular service resumes.
If you’re a current BCIT student and are experiencing financial hardship due to this disruption, please reach out to the Student Financial Aid & Awards team. We’re here to support students impacted this term—please note that we are not able to assist with future term funding at this time.
Please keep monitoring the SABC website for updates directly from the Ministry.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this situation together.

Winter 2026 Flexible Learning Registration
Due to the current labour disruption at StudentAid BC, students are temporarily unable to apply for part-time or full-time funding. In response, BCIT Student Financial Aid & Awards is offering Tuition Fee Deferrals to students who plan to apply for funding once the disruption is resolved.
If you are unable to pay for your Flexible Learning classes upfront at the time of registration, you may request a Tuition Fee Deferral by following these steps:
- Register for your Flexible Learning classes.
- Complete the following forms:
- Specific Course Completion Contract (SCCC)
- Tuition Fee Deferral Request Form
- Submit both completed forms to finaid@bcit.ca.
- Be sure to indicate on your deferral form that you plan to apply for StudentAid BC funding once the labour disruption is resolved.
Eligibility:
To be considered for a Tuition Fee Deferral, students must be accepted into an eligible program and intend to apply for StudentAid BC funding once the application becomes available.
