Success in Online Learning

This course will empower current or potential post-secondary learners, who may not be confident in their computer skills, to succeed in an online learning environment. The course will focus on:

  • Identifying hardware and software
  • Describe browsers and web sites
  • Describe Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Work with LMS tools
  • Search the web effectively and efficiently
  • Understand the importance of critical thinking when on the Internet
  • Develop effective independent learning strategies
  • Develop effective class participation strategies

I took this course over the summer when I was getting ready to attend university for the first time. I had no idea how important this is and how different my life now is from my high school days. I feel this course has helped me to be more successful in my studies and my career.

Anyone wanting a better understanding of computer skills necessary for a return to school in the age of online learning.

The online course consists of 6 independent study modules that enables you to proceed through the material at your own pace. Although it is recommended that you follow the lessons in consecutive order to maximize the learning, it is not a requirement.
