Overview
BCIT's School of Computing and Academic Studies (CAS) offers a wide range of credentials, including two year diplomas which form the foundation of bachelor degrees. We offer everything from pre-entry courses, to technology degree programs, both full-time and part-time. Our courses and programs are designed with industry input to meet employer demands.
The school houses three separate, but inter-disciplinary departments:
- The BCIT School of Computing provides 20 different applied programs including diplomas and degrees. We have multiple delivery options including: full time, part time (PTS) and fast-track (HTP). PTS offers more than 400 individual part time studies 'COMP' courses every year in computing and IT topics.
- The BCIT Centre for Forensics and Security Technology department offers advanced specialty certificates and a degree, as well as courses in: forensic science, computer and economic crimes, intelligence analysis, forensic health science, investigative accounting, security management and forensic video analysis.
- The Academic Studies department provides students with the academic upgrading to enter many BCIT technology programs. We also provide English Communication skills needed for career success as well as specific courses in Chemistry, Math, and Physics. Our Liberal Studies courses enhance critical thinking, analytical abilities and writing skills.
The Technology Entry (TE) program is a 15-week, full-time day school program for individuals who want solid academic preparation before entering a BCIT technology program. It is appropriate for individuals who need to improve their skills in core areas such as communication, mathematics, chemistry and physics in order to meet program prerequisites.
