Course Overview
This capstone course provides participants with the opportunity to synthesize and apply the full range of knowledge and skills developed throughout the program to a complex, organization-wide leadership initiative. Participants will lead the design of a comprehensive operational excellence project that addresses systemic challenges and opportunities within their organization. Participants will assess current-state operations, identify strategic improvement opportunities, and propose evidence-based solutions that balance performance, compliance, equity, and sustainability. Participants may choose to focus their capstone project on one or more of the following areas: Inclusive operations Constructive labour relations Ethical and responsible financial management Equitable recruitment and onboarding practices Productivity and operational effectiveness at scale Participants will submit a final written report and deliver a presentation. The capstone is designed to prepare participants for senior or cross-functional roles requiring strategic oversight, change leadership, and measurable organizational impact.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Analyze organizational systems, structures, and workflows to diagnose operational challenges and identify opportunities for operational excellence within a complex organizational context.
- Evaluate current practices and policies within a selected focus area (e.g., DEI, labour relations, finance, recruitment, or productivity) to determine alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards.
- Create an integrated operational improvement plan that incorporates evidence-based strategies, equity considerations, and performance objectives appropriate to the selected area(s) of focus.
- Evaluate stakeholder interests, risks, and levels of influence to design and justify an inclusive stakeholder engagement and communication strategy.
- Design proposed solutions, including defined success measures for compliance, scalability, feasibility, and organizational impact.
- Create a comprehensive written report that synthesizes analysis, methodology, findings, and strategic recommendations using professional and organizationally appropriate standards.
- Create and deliver a persuasive executive presentation that communicates project outcomes, strategic implications, and recommended actions to senior leaders and decision-makers.
- Reflect and evaluate personal leadership practice and decision-making throughout the project to identify areas of growth and inform future leadership and operational practice.
