If you’ve got an interest in one particular trade but aren’t working in trades already, our Foundation programs are a good choice – especially if your ultimate goal is to become an apprentice. These programs can vary from 13 weeks to 10 months in duration. Upon successful completion of a Foundation program, you will get credit for the first level (some trades have two levels) of your apprenticeship training by SkilledTradesBC and be ready to start working as an apprentice. A student who completes a Foundation program is highly sought after by employers as the student has attained the necessary skills to be immediately productive on the worksite. Foundation programs are available in more than 20 trades at BCIT which ladder into apprenticeship training.
