Apprenticeship

So, you’re already an apprentice or you’re working in trades and are thinking about becoming one. First, you, or your employer, need to contact SkilledTradesBC to register as an apprentice. Then, enroll in one of BCIT’s many apprenticeship programs. In our apprenticeship programs, you’ll still work full-time for your employer, but you’ll spend part of your time attending technical training at BCIT. You get to earn while you learn! As an electrical apprentice, for example, you would attend technical training for 10 weeks per year over a four-year period to complete the training requirements of the apprenticeship. The rest of the time, you would be working on-the-job to obtain the required practical skills. Once your apprenticeship is complete, you’ll be in a great position to obtain Red Seal endorsement – your ticket to working outside of BC in your chosen trade.
