Most certificate and diploma-level programs are designed for students who have completed high school to Grade 12 in Canada.
Degree programs normally require students to first complete a two-year Diploma at BCIT, or its equivalent in their home country, plus have at least six months of relevant work experience.
Full-time programs have different entrance requirements, for example, previous math or science credits, a portfolio, or a letter of intent. For the exact requirements for your program, view the program entry information contained within each program website.
Credentials from institutions abroad must be evaluated by the International Credential Evaluation Service prior to acceptance into certain programs. Please allow three to five months lead time. Cost per credential is CAD $125 - 225. See www.bcit.ca/ices/ for details.
English Language Requirements
To be successful in BCIT's applied learning environment, applicants must demonstrate English proficiency in all four language skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. The English requirements are program specific. Find your program online and refer to the program entry information.
If your course or program does not have a specific English requirement, two years of education in English in an English-speaking country and English 12 are strongly recommended for success.
If you need to improve your English language skills, we offer several programs to help upgrade your English.
