Most certificate and diploma-level programs are designed for students who have completed high school to Grade 12 in Canada.
Degree programs normally require students to first complete a two-year Diploma of Technology at BCIT, or its equivalent in their home country, plus have at least six months of relevant work experience.
Full-time programs have different entrance requirements, for example, previous math or science credits, a portfolio, or a letter of intent. For the exact requirements for your program, view the program entry information contained within each program website.
Credentials from institutions abroad must be evaluated by the International Credential Evaluation Service prior to acceptance into certain programs. Please allow three to five months lead time. Cost per credential is CAD $125 – 225. See www.bcit.ca/ices/ for details.
To be successful in BCIT’s applied learning environment, applicants must demonstrate a suitable level of English in all four language skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. The English Language Proficiency requirement is program specific. Find your program online and refer to the program entry information.
Part-time studies courses are taught assuming that you have writing, reading, listening and speaking skills at a BC Grade 12 level of English, and we strongly recommend that your language proficiency is at this level.
