Recreation Services is hosting a series of Fitness Workshops this Fall term!

Each workshop is a special one-time program designed for people who are looking to try out an activity or space in a beginner-friendly, small-group session! All equipment is included. These sessions are for active BCIT students &/or staff on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is required and instructions on how to register can be found below.

All of these workshops are being held inside the Recreation Centre in SE16.

Salsa Dancing for Beginners

Pencils down! It may be midterm season, but don’t let that stop you from learning the basics of salsa! No dance experience or partner needed. Just bring a smile and a willingness to get moving!
 
The first hour will go over the foundations of salsa as a solo and partner dance, with the last 30 minutes devoted to applying what you’ve learned in a dance social. By the end, you’ll be familiar the rhythms of salsa music, comfortable with the basic steps, and excited to learn some more.
Please bring breathable clothing and comfortable non-marking athletic shoes.

Improve Your Balance - Workshop (Hybrid Delivery)

Good balance is essential at all ages – e.g., for athletic pursuits, overall body co-ordination, good knee and hip health, and fall avoidance. This 1 hour workshop will provide you with some skills to assess and improve your balance. Participants can expect to work on foot and ankle mobilization and stabilization techniques, the importance of proper knee tracking and foot positioning during movement, facilitating walking fluidity, and various balance and co-ordination exercises.

Bunny Yoga (Student Only)

Need a break from studying for finals? Come and enjoy a destressing (and fluffy) yoga session featuring bunnies!

This 40 minute class invites you to stretch and strengthen through movement, breathing, and mindfulness. Whether you’re flowing through simple poses or pausing to observe the bunnies, it’s the perfect way to unwind.
