Research head Maureen Connelly has recently won a national grant supporting a Centre for the Advancement of Green Roof Technology for three years. The funding, from the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada, recognizes the potential already demonstrated by BCIT’s Green Roofs Research Facility (GGRF), the first of its kind in western Canada. learn more
In 2003, BCIT students, faculty and staff collaborated to design and build the Power Tower which provides a practical demonstration project for research and teaching in solar energy technology. learn more
The Solar Canopy project, a UBC initiative housed at the shared GNWC campus, received $2 million from BC’s Clean Energy Fund in 2008 and was a 2008 BC Hydro Power Smart Excellence Award Finalist in New Technology of the Year. learn more
