In programs that are in high demand, the admissions policy establishes the following order of acceptance priority:
British Columbia residents who are Canadian citizens, or have Permanent Resident status at the time of application, and who, for programs in high demand, have lived in British Columbia for the immediate 12 months prior to enrolment.
Canadian citizens and those applicants with Permanent Resident status who live out of the province of British Columbia.
Those applicants who are not Canadian citizens or do not have Permanent Resident status at the time of enrolment. Anyone obtaining Permanent Resident status after submitting an application will have his/her residence status changed to first or second priority after official documentation has been received.
Due to the number of applications received in some of our high demand programs, acceptance may be offered to first priority BC residents and applicants who are deemed competitive.
Applications are processed for a specific intake date. Some programs will create waitlists. Once a program has started, waitlisted applicants will be asked if they wish to be considered for the following intake, non-accepted applicants will need to reapply.
For most trades and technical studies programs applicants who meet all specified admission requirements will be considered complete applicants. Complete applicants are waitlisted until seats become available, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Registration for apprenticeship training is processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Registration for part-time studies courses is processed on a first-come, first-served basis regardless of citizenship or residency.
Applications for Program Declaration are also processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
For many part-time degree programs, applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the year.
