Housing Rates & Fees

Your move-in date for Fall Term will correspond with the start date of your program.  The majority of students begin their fall term classes the day after Labour Day. However, BCIT does offer a few programs where classes begin in August.

With this in mind, the following are some examples of calculations for Fall Term housing costs:

Fall term only prorated rent (September – December)
September 2* – December 8, 2023: $2,574.38

Example #2
*Fall term of the academic year (August – December)
August 1* – December 31, 2023: $4,034.08

*Rent is pro-rated at a nightly rate of $26.54.

*Check-in weekend will take place between September 2-4, 2023

Please note: with the exception of the September Check-In Weekend, you are not eligible to move in more than one day prior to the start date of your program.

Winter term of academic year (January – May)
January 1 – May 26, 2024: $3,874.84

Winter term only prorate rent example (January – May)
January 1- March 21, 2024: $2,123.2

Rent is pro-rated at a nightly rate of $26.54.

Damage deposit (confirmation payment): $300

Activity fee: $40 per term

Lost keys: $25 per key

Long Stay Parking is currently $20.00 per week.

Please note these parking fees are due in full on or before your check-in date.
Applications for an assigned stall in the Student Housing parking lot will be available in the Housing Portal only after accepting a Housing Offer.

If the Student Housing parking lot is full, you will be placed on our waitlist. You may need to purchase a BCIT student lot permit to use until a Student Housing parking lot stall becomes available.

Parking of recreational vehicles, motor homes or any unlicensed vehicle is not permitted in the Student Housing parking lot. Student Housing parking permits are not transferable for use in other BCIT parking lots.

If you have a motorcycle, you may park in the motorcycle enclosure adjacent to the parking lot without a permit. This area is not covered and is first-come, first-served.

Short-Stay Rent Rates August 1, 2023 – July 31 ,2024

Short-stay bookings over 30 nights
$32.46 per night

Short-stay bookings under 30 nights
$32.46 per night plus 5% GST*

*Stays less than 30 days are subject to 5% GST on the total amount.

Please keep in mind these rates affect the booking dates and will be charged even if the application is received prior to August 1^st, 2023.

* Please note that the minimum stay is 5 nights. Short-stay residents must check in on the Sunday (or holiday Monday) before their program starts and must check out by noon on the Friday that their program ends. Late check-outs and extensions are not permitted.
