Important updates to Part-time Studies
Every course in this program is developed and taught by working professionals to ensure you get the most current, useful skills and training available. The knowledge you learn through these courses will help you in nearly every aspect of facilities management, including construction contracts, planning and design, accounting, and more.
Please note: part-time programs and courses are open enrolment and although we make every effort to accommodate demand, course registration cannot be guaranteed in every semester. High demand courses fill quickly and may result in students unable to register for a course that semester. Courses may also be cancelled due to low enrolment.
Those who work in facilities management help the entire organization function by coordinating and developing the workplace to integrate people and their work. This can include new construction in a warehouse, better layout of an office, or ensuring safety regulations are met for the health of all employees.
This type of position is invaluable in every organization and many employers have trouble finding people to fill the roles because of the specialized knowledge needed.
In this program, you’ll work closely with working industry professionals to get the practical skills you’ll need in day-to-day operations. The courses are designed to include offerings from business, engineering, and health sciences specifically to appeal to those wishing to enter the field of facilities management or those currently in the field who want to upgrade or formalize their knowledge.
This program has been developed in conjunction with the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) BC Chapter.
Upon graduation, you’ll have the essential skills and knowledge you need for effective facilities management. Currently, many employers can’t find qualified grads who fit their needs in this area, which means the training and practical experience you get at BCIT puts you in a strong position for a choice of exciting new careers or to advance in your current position.
