To support you and your education, BCIT is adapting applied learning in formats appropriate to the unfolding global situation. All PTS classes are being delivered in an online format unless you are notified otherwise.
This communication course teaches the business writing skills needed to produce effective business and technical reports: inspection, trip, incident, and progress reports, proposals, feasibility studies, formal reports, oral reports, summaries and graphics. NOTE: Students scoring below "C+" in level 1 COMM are required to take COMM 2003 instead of COMM 2203. To make up for a full-time diploma program level 2 COMM course, students must take both COMM 2202 (or COMM 2002) and COMM 2203 (or COMM 2003). If you have BCIT full-time diploma program level 1 COMM course credit, email firstname.lastname@example.org to apply for approval to register.
BEFORE YOU REGISTER, click on the URL link for important registration instructions and course info: https://www.bcit.ca/files/distance/pdf/comm_2203_online_202030.pdf . Enrolment activity will be monitored for this course. If you do not have a final grade of 70%+ in a 3-credit BCIT COMM 1100-level course or a 3-credit university/college composition course, you will be automatically dropped from the course without notice. BCIT refund schedule applies. *(A)*THIS IS NOT A SELF-PACED COURSE. There will be specific timelines for assignments and exams. You will have readings, discussions, peer review, and assignments to complete each week (although you do NOT have to be online at a particular time or on a particular day). Your weekly participation is essential to succeed in this course. *(B)*MANDATORY IN-PERSON FINAL EXAM: If you live within 100 km from BCIT, you must write the final exam at BCIT Burnaby Campus on Friday, December 11, 2020, from 1830 to 2130, without exception. If you live outside 100 km from BCIT, you will arrange to write the final exam at one of BCIT's network of approved Test Centres. You are directly responsible for all invigilation fees and related costs. *(C)* COMM 1106/1103 and COMM 2203 cannot be taken simultaneously. If this class is showing full, we have already reached the maximum enrolment capacity and cannot accept further registrants. This course is offered every term, so you will also have the opportunity to take it next term. Or you can take COMM 2003. If you take COMM 2003 for your program, you do not need to take COMM 2203. Upon successful completion of COMM 2003, you will earn 3 credits towards your program to replace COMM 2203.
