Course Overview
This projects-based course focuses on the event industry, and fundamental components of planning and executing events. Students explore the planning, marketing, selling, producing and management of any type of event from company social functions to major conventions. To be successful in this course, students must be able to communicate well in writing, in English.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Create a group project plan that outlines project scope, deadlines and roles of group members.
- Describe the scope of the event industry and discuss current industry trends.
- Develop a creative vision for an event by defining a theme, colour schemes, and environmental design elements.
- Prepare event documents such as critical paths, production schedules, and floorplans.
- Define an event’s financial goals and prepare an event budget.
- Identify factors involved in selection of venues, dates, and suppliers.
- Define an event’s target market and choose appropriate marketing and promotional strategies.
- Create an event proposal designed to persuade a prospective client.
- Describe opportunities for future training, education and work/volunteer options in the event industry.
