Trades Entry Assessment

Abstract Reasoning

Winter Closure

Trades Entry Assessments will not be conducted or evaluated (including online invigilation) from December 18 to January 4. Since assessments must be written in the same term they are registered and paid for in, please plan ahead accordingly.

The abstract reasoning assessment is a non-verbal measure of reasoning ability. It evaluates the ability to think logically and to perceive relationships in abstract figure patterns within a specified time limit.

  • Multiple-choice format
  • Time limit
  • Only one re-write may be attempted per term
  • Passing score varies by program

To write the abstract reasoning assessment, please follow these three steps:

  1. Registration
  2. Payment
  3. Booking an appointment to write the assessment.

If you need to write the Abstract Reasoning assessment as part of your entrance requirements, please register for it via the Abstract Reasoning assessment course page.

Each assessment has a $40.00 fee (subject to change without notice). These fees, which are tuition, must be paid at least 3 business days prior to writing your assessment(s). Assessment fees are non-refundable. You may pay for your assessment fees through online banking or Flywire. For more information on payment options, please visit BCIT’s Payment Options webpage.
