Yes. Assessment results can be used to meet program entry requirements (if applicable) when transcripts are unavailable. For more information, see BCIT programs.
With a few exceptions, the Trades Entry Assessment is acceptable for all BCIT Trades and Apprenticeship courses. See BCIT programs for more information on specific program entrance requirements.

There are five (5) assessments available to write – English, Mathematics, Mechanical Reasoning, Physics and Abstract Reasoning.
All assessments have a time limit of 45 minutes with the exception of Abstract Reasoning, which is 20 minutes.
Visit Sample Assessments and select your Practice Assessment course. There are no restrictions on where, when and how many times you go through the quiz.
You will need to present your valid government-issued photo identification and proof of payment for the course.
To obtain a copy of your tuition (assessment fee) payment transaction, log in to your myBCIT account. Under Student Self Service, click on ‘View or Print Your Tuition Receipt’ and follow the prompts.

You can also save a copy of the electronic receipt to your phone or tablet.
The passing score varies by program. Please refer to your program’s entrance requirements to determine which assessment(s) to write and the percentage grade required.
The validity period varies for each program. Please contact Program Advising or Admission for more information.
One re-write is allowed in a term. If unsuccessful, you must wait a minimum of three months before you can take the assessment again.
EXCEPTION: Applicants to the Fixed-Wing or Rotary-Wing option of the Airline and Flight Operations Commercial Pilot Program who do not pass the re-write must wait until the next application year to take the assessment again.
If you require the assessment to meet your program requirements, BCIT offers several options to help you upgrade your skills. When you are ready to write again, you need to repeat the process: register, pay, book an appointment.
