Course Overview
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of sports media and broadcasting, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Students explore career opportunities in the sports media industry, develop essential research and writing skills for sports broadcasting, and learn the art of announcing and interviewing. Through engaging assignments and hands-on exercises, including mock interviews, live event analysis, and sportscast production, students build the skills necessary to excel in sports media. Industry guest speakers and real-world simulations provide insight into industry expectations and best practices, preparing students for this dynamic field.

- Identify the different elements required for a local, regional, and national sportscast.
- Construct a contemporary sportscast for the electronic media.

- This course will be delivered synchronously in person, requiring your attendance and participation in scheduled classes held at Burnaby Campus SE10 building for the duration of the course. Prospective students should have solid written and spoken English language skills and a deep interest in sports or sports media to be successful in this course, as it involves extensive discussions, analyses, and practical applications in the sports media field.
