There are two options for study abroad students:
1. Study Abroad by Design
Build a custom curriculum with up to 4 courses. Make sure you meet the prerequisites, try to keep it less than 15 credits in total with less than 2 program areas to minimize time conflicts, and to give you more opportunities to interact with the same cohorts. One Canadian credit is equal to one hour of lecture/lab weekly, and approximately two ECTS in the European framework.
Sample of Study Abroad Course Selection:
|Business Database Applications
|Business Intelligence 1
|Consulting Skills and Problem Solving
2. Study Abroad with Language Development
Choose this option if you do not meet our general Entrance Requirements or want to further develop their English language skills for business purpose. It runs for 2 consecutive terms each year from Spring to Fall (April to December). You will take intensive language courses and entry level business courses. Please email email@example.com for more details.
Please note: course offerings are subject to change, acceptance into the course is on a case-by-case basis, and Study Abroad students acquire credits, not BCIT credentials. If you need assistance with course selection, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition to the BCIT Study Abroad Brochure, please also take following details into consideration:
Finding a room in metro Vancouver can be challenging these days. BCIT Student Housing offers limited number of rooms on Burnaby Campus. Application details will be provided upon acceptance into the Business & Media Study Abroad program. Please note that rooms are not guaranteed, therefore, we strongly recommend students to look for off-campus options as well. Refer to BCIT Housing Guide for guidelines and recommendations.

Life on Campus
As a BCIT student you will have access to our services on campus. These include free tutoring, recreation services such as a fitness centre and gym, access to counsellors and doctors on campus, and much more! Explore more about International Student Guides here.
Study Permit / Travel to Canada
A foreign national may study in Canada without a study permit if the duration of their course or program of studies is six months or less and will be completed within the period for their stay authorized upon entry into Canada. Therefore, Study Abroad students planning to study at BCIT for only one term are exempt from BCIT’s standard study permit requirement. However, you still need to provide proof of your valid status in Canada. Check out details here.
