Course Overview
This course provides an in-depth exploration of sound design principles, techniques and sound equipment for various media applications, including film, television, radio, and social media. Through a combination of lectures, hands-on exercises, and projects, students will learn the fundamentals of sound design, including microphones, recording, editing techniques and multitrack mixing. Emphasis will be placed on applying creative concepts to enhance storytelling through sound.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain how a microphone, mixer and digital interface functions and demonstrate techniques.
- Compare various sound processing techniques and evaluate functionality.
- Discuss theoretical examples of simple post production and define techniques.
- Explain how digital sound is recorded and use of digital editing software.
- Determine studio and location sound show requirements.
- Analyze effective storytelling skills through technical competence.
- Write and produce a Podcast production for the web.
