Trades Discovery is a great place to start your search for a trades career that will match your “job wants and needs”. During the program you will have a chance to explore options through hands-on-in- the shop sessions that cover over 15 different disciplines. Trades Discovery helps you to “discover” a career path that will work for you. Will you choose to work indoors or outdoors? Do you prefer operating, creating, building, fixing or designing things? Do you prefer working with wood, or metal? Or both? Urban or rural? Will you travel or stay at the same location for work? The possibilities are endless!
Certificates
Lessons will include sessions in occupational health and safety, drawing interpretation, measuring and layout, using hand, power and pneumatic tools along with machinery and equipment. You will learn about amazing career opportunities in the construction, manufacturing, transportation and warehousing, and utilities sectors.
Along with earning college credits and an Associate Certificate, you will have an opportunity to earn workforce certificates** such as:
- Confined Space Entry and Monitor
- Fall Arrest Safety
- Lift Truck Operator (forklift training)
- Mental Health First Aid
- Mobile Elevating Work Platform (scissor lift training)
- Occupational First Aid Level One
- Respirator Fit Test
- Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS)
