This course is comprised of the study, exploration, and application of design theories and processes in creating the built environment. Students will explore such topics as social issues and adaptive reuse and will be expected to make research presentations, participate in class discussions and assignments and to work in teams on projects that may include 2D and 3D drawings and models.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Develop research methods to support design concept development.
Transform design concepts into 2D and 3D models and sketches.
Compare the theories of individual interior designers and architects.
Document the design processes of interior design projects in a sketchbook/journal.
Discuss specific and current interior design and architectural projects.
Incorporate the elements and principles of design into projects.
