Course Overview
This course examines the systems and practices used to manage and assure quality in welded fabrication. Students will explore the steps typically taken to ensure weld quality, including welding procedure and welder qualification, destructive and non-destructive testing, in-process quality control, dimensional inspection, and the development of inspection and test plans. The course also covers documentation practices, non-conformance management, corrective action reporting, and the actions typically taken to correct common welding deficiencies, including an introduction to fitness-for-purpose assessment. Each lesson combines a lecture with a related hands-on lab activity.
