Course Overview
In this micro-credential course, students will gain knowledge on welding automation, industrial robots, and other manufacturing technologies. The course covers everything from basic concepts up to the practical simulation of robotics with the help of ABB RobotStudio, as well as more advanced concepts like digital twin and additive manufacturing. An understanding of the technical process and economic rationality behind robot welding systems is stressed throughout the course. Some of the major aspects covered in this course include: •Fundamentals of welding automation, processes, and industrial applications •Industrial robotics systems, including mechanisms, sensors, and quality control •Hands-on simulation and basic programming using ABB RobotStudio and RAPID •Digital twin technologies and advanced manufacturing processes such as additive manufacturing •Welding economics, cost-benefit analysis, and productivity evaluation This course gives a basic idea about welding automation while introducing the topics typically addressed in industry.
