Course Overview
Empathize with users, define pain points, produce low and hi-fidelity mock-ups to plan solutions are an integral foundation for user interface design and user experience. This course introduces students to user research, user interface, and user experience, which are fundamental fields required to create compelling user-centric designs in physical and digital mediums including desktop and mobile. This course will provide students with the knowledge required to research, identify, and plan effective user interfaces, as well as explain how user interface and user experience design methodologies can be applied to understanding the end user to create highly effective products.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Examine user interface design and user experience history.
- Differentiate between user experience and user interface design.
- Identify various methods of user research.
- Apply basic guidelines to evaluate the usability of a user interface.
- Explain how usability, accessibility, and layout design are fundamental areas of study in user experience design.
- Summarize psychological principles that help understand human interactions with technology.
- Create personas to support the user experience research process.
- Design user stories, user story mapping and user flows to visualize task processes.
- Construct wireframes manually and using online tools.
- Build low and hi-fidelity mock-ups prototypes to map the functioning of interactive systems.
- Perform usability evaluations, including constructive feedback from users/clients.
