Course Overview
This hands-on course was designed for students who have strong English communication skills. Only those students who have strong spoken and written business English should register for this course. COMP 0285 assumes that students are already computer literate and able to manage files and maintain a computer system. If you are unsure of your personal computer skills please complete COMP 1002 before starting this course. Students receive hands-on experience with Exan Power PracticeX dental management software. COMP 0285 also helps to prepare students and dental office personnel to use other types of dental office computer systems in the Windows environment. Participants will focus on patient records, insurance policies, treatment claims and estimates, digital x-rays, insurance and patient payments. The appointment manager, system reports and electronic billing will also be explored. Please Note: COMP 0285 may be taken simultaneously with COMP 0885 and COMP 0985. A BCIT Statement of Completion is issued upon success in all three of these courses. Some students may also be eligible for continuing dental education credits as per the BC College of Oral Health Professionals. The passing grade of theses dental courses is 70%. Upon successful completion of COMP 0285, students will have acquired the abilities to be end-users of Dental Office Computer Systems.
